Dear Parents!
An unforgettable week of growth, adventure, and exploration across Israel!
This week, our TJJ West Coast teens embarked on an incredible journey through the heart of Israel, experiencing a powerful blend of history, culture, adventure, and bonding.
Sunday July 13 – Volunteering in Jerusalem We started the day volunteering packing bags for soldiers! Next we had a meaningful experience touring Yad Vashem. And then a tour of the Jewish quarter of the old city.
Monday, July 14 – Jerusalem & Holon We began the day in Jerusalem with a visit to Mt. Herzl, Israel’s national cemetery and a moving tribute to the country’s heroes. The group then traveled to Holon, where they explored the Children’s Museum’s “Dialogue in the Dark” exhibit — an immersive experience designed to increase empathy and awareness. We ended off the day making a carnival for over 100 families of miluim soldiers.
Tuesday, July 15 – The Southbound Journey Begins We left Jerusalem and headed south, with a quick stop in Tkuma. The group then visited the site of the Nova music festival near Re’im for a poignant moment to hear about the local experience of Oct 7th. By evening, we arrived in Eilat and took over the boardwalk.
Wednesday, July 16 – Eilat Adventures An early start took us to Mt. Tzfachot for a sunrise hike, followed by a boat cruise in the Red Sea. After lunch, the group enjoyed thrilling water sports at Chof Chananya beach. The evening included a trip to the Eilat Ice Mall for some light shopping and fun.
Thursday, July 17 – Masada & Camelback riding The group checked out of Eilat and headed north, starting with a powerful tour of Masada. Afterwards, we went to Eretz Beresheit for camel back riding!
Friday, July 18 – City of David & Machane Yehuda We explored Jerusalem with a tour of the City of David, followed by shopping and food tour at the Mahane Yehuda Market. With Shabbat approaching, the group returned to Yad Binyamin for candle lighting and meaningful Shabbat programming to wrap up an unforgettable week!
Shabbat Shalom! Wishing you and yours peace!
