The Anne Samson Jerusalem Journey
NCSY TJJ Bus 4 One Week In!

Dear Parents,

We can’t believe we’re a whole week into the trip! As we get ready to out for yet another exciting day here up north, I want to tell you about the Shabbat we completed last night.

On Friday evening we watched the sunset and could literally feel Shabbat arriving! We sang together at a delicious Shabbat meal and followed it with an “Oneg” – even more snacks and games and hanging out. We got lots of extra sleep to recuperate from a busy week, but still managed to have a lot of time for learning groups as the TJJers have developed a strong interest in learning more about Judaism and about the books we have in our “Bus Library”.

Before Shabbat was over, we joined together to reflect upon our first week and listened to the teens’ thoughts on the “best part of their week”. Their answers covered everything we’ve done; from making new friends to hearing new ideas, from picking nectarines and plums in an Israeli orchard, to hearing from a 77 year old native Clevelander about why he moved to Israel over 50 years ago, from the aqueduct tunnels of the City of David, to the hikes through rivers near the Kinneret.

Stay tuned for more updates about this incredible experience!
