Dear NCSY TJJ Bus 4 Family,
Greetings from the GOLAN!!!!
Tuesday began early (5:00 am wakeup!!!!) with a hike in the Zavitan valley!! There we enjoyed seeing the beautiful scenery and swimming in the natural pools. After a brief rest in Chistpin, we had a terrific “Ask the Rabbi” session with Rabbi Dovid Kimche, our esteemed assistant director, and then played both basketball and soccer games.
We ended our day at the Talmudic Village in Katzerin where we learned about life in the post second temple period. The ancient synagogue was especially inspiring as we could feel how generation after generation continued in their practice of Judaism and that the torch of Jewish continuity has been passed to us. In the synagogue we had a guest speaker, Rabbi Menachem Nissel, who offered a unique perspective of the continuity of Judaism.
We have enjoyed our stay in the north so much and we look forward to the remainder of our week as we begin to move south and explore the cities of Acco and Tzfat!
