Dear NCSY TJJ Bus 4 Family,
Hello from the GOLAN!!!!
Friday kicked off our summer with a trip to Mt. Bental, a lookout point over Israel, Lebanon, and Syria. Our fantastic tour guide, Daniel Charter, gave us a brief history of Israel and helped us explore the bunkers made by the IDF during the Six Day War.
From the Bental the Bus 4 Family went to the Dekarina Chocolate factory where we were shown how to make Israel’s most delicious treats!! After filling up on every type of chocolate imaginable (seriously I’ve never seen that much chocolate before in my life) we began to explore the Holy Land while using our feet on a hike in the Jilabun Valley. After taking in the historic valley and learning how the valley belonged to the tribe of Menasheh and has Talmudic roots, we mustered up our strength to conquer the “stairway to heaven” awaiting us at the end of the hike (climbing out of a deep valley is no easy feat!).
Now that our first full day is in the books, we are all looking forward to celebrating our first shabbat together!
Best,
Rabbi Chaim
