After really missing our bus the whole Shabbat, we finally found each other again after the free Shabbat! We picked the people up from both the Tel Aviv and Jerusalem stops, and then we left to go South to the Bedouin tents. On the way there we first topped off in Latrun, the Tank Museum. We had an interesting American guide tell us all about the Israeli wars and the role of tanks in that! After that, we went to Tel Azeika where our tour guide made us simulate the story of David and Goliath. Lastly, we went to the Bar Kochva caves, which are the caves that Jewish people hid in doing the Bar Kochva revolt in the years 132-135. We went into the caves and it was sooo much fun!! We had to crawl on our knees, we sang chants, and Rael was waiting for us at the exit singing ‘one day’ on his guitar…
After that, we made our way to Bedouin tents… we got there and were awed by the beautiful view and original decorated tents! We put our stuff down in the tents (there was one for guys and one for girls) and then went to dinner. The food was absolutely amazing! We had shwarma, salads, humus, potatoes and pitta which were delicious! After dinner, we met up for an evening of meditation in the desert. We walked about ten minutes outside the camp and Rabbi Rael led the session – we sat together in a circle and took steps away from each other and lied down in our own space. Rabbi Rael told us that we should think about three things: what our predominant character trait is, what we like most about ourselves, and where we want to see ourselves in five-ten years time. We star-gazed while thinking about these things, and then Rabbi Rael gave us an inspirational talk. That night, we all sat in a circle in the desert and opened up about personal things and truly became one family! We then went back to the Bedouin camp and sat around a bonfire while singing songs… more bonding! We then went to sleep.
