We started the day out by showing off our farming skills with Leket Israel. We picked tomatoes to be sent around the country to feed the hungry. We got quite dirty, but it was worth it! Next off we headed to Dialogue in the Dark. It was a fascinating and eye-opening experience to spend an hour experiencing life like the blind. There were several rooms that we went through – a market-place with real vegetables to feel and smell, a music room, a cafeteria (we bought and ate food!!) and we even went for a boat ride! Our guide was blind and it was amazing to experience the world the way he does…
Following that, we rounded off our day with another chessed trip to Save a Child’s Heart. We learned about the organization and were in awe of the amazing charity that goes on there. Save A Child’s heart takes children from underdeveloped countries and brings them to Israel to heal heart defects. The organization also is working to train doctors from these countries in hopes that one day they will be able to cure these kids right in their own hometowns. After we heard about it and saw an inspirational video about it, we got to meet and play with the kids who were there healing. We had a fun music jam session with them and they had a lot of fun dancing along and then getting to play with the instruments.
We then ended our day by droppig off prople for the free shabbat – first the people who were being dropped off in tel aviv, and then those in Jerusalem. The day ended off with us saying good-bye to our friends for us to head out for our free Shabbat!
