Today we woke up and left Kibbutz Lavi to travel down South to Ein Tsurim. On the way, we stopped off in a place with a look-out point, and we then went to visit a moshav where a woman spoke to us about what it’s like to live in the South of Israel. We then went to visit a kibbutz where a woman spoke to us about the history of the kibbutz. It was very informative. After that, we went to the new hotel that we are staying at in Ein Tsurim.
We got to the hotel and had some time to get ready before going to eat a delicious dinner at the hotel! (our last one before the fast). We ate there and then went to a room and had the seudat mafseket (the meal just before Tisha Beav). Rabbi Rael spoke to us about the importance of Tisha B’av which was a really inspiring talk! We all went to our rooms and came back into the room where we were meeting at 8pm. The room was completely dark and it was candle-lit to create an atmosphere of mourning for Tisha B’Av. Rabbi Rael then read Megillat Eicha followed by a kinnah of Tisha B’av. We watched a movie called ‘Defiance’ which was about partisans fighting the Germans from the forest – it added to the mood of the day.
