Today we started our day by thinking about our futures. The upcoming juniors and seniors went to a gap year fair with all of the other buses to learn about opportunities for post graduation. There was lots to see and lots to learn. After the fair, we met up with the 10th graders and drove to a presentation from a Stand With Us representative. We can’t forget about the impromptu flash mob before the presentation to Yesh Tikva (check the Stand With Us Facebook page if you want to check it out ;). The presentation was extremely powerful and I think it inspired all of us to take what we’ve learned these past few weeks and use it to stand up for our values and Jewish identity once we get back. From Stand With Us, we walked to a park for lunch before heading to Machon Ma’ayan for a presentation about the seminary program there. We were greeted with parve Ben and Jerry’s and heard a personal story from a head Rabbi from Machon Ma’ayan. The story touched all of us and inspired us to start thinking about what we want to do after high school and who we want to be. From there, we changed into our TJJ tee shirts and got on the bus to go to the long awaited, Yom NCSY. After a bus ride of singing and dancing and a grand TJJ Bus 4 entrance, we ate dinner at the event and met up with other TJJers. After taking photos and finishing dinner with popsicles, we all headed to the park for the concert. The venue was crazy and the whole arena was getting pumped up. Israeli flags lined the seats and there were flashing lights everywhere. Once the show started, the entire 2,000 guests at Yom NCSY went crazy! The first act, Kippa Live, was an acapella group. Between their songs, we saw videos from the summer and messages from NCSY donors on the big screens (thanks mom and dad for the message!). Once Mordechai Shapiro came on stage, it was insanely loud, but in a good way. The girls from my bus made our way to the girls’ mosh pit and went crazy. There was water flying around and soon, there was no chance of differentiating between what was sweat and what was water. Madeline got on Deena’s shoulders and I got on Gabby’s shoulders and although it probably wasn’t the safest choice, it was one of my favorite moments from the night. I kept moving closer towards the front of the stage and got to dance with girls from GIVE and other NCSY programs. Once we were drenched in a mixture of sweat and water, we went back to the top of the venue and met up with the rest of our bus to dance and sing together as a family for the last few songs from Mordechai’s set. Dancing in a circle with our Bus Four family made me think about how much we’ve grown these past four weeks, individually and collectively, and how many memories I’ve made with everyone. Today was an amazing day of learning, culminating with a fun filled night packed with dancing, signing, and love for our Bus Four family.
