TJJer Spotlight: Presley Klinger
The 3:45am wake up call or leg ache from camel rinding did not hold back my enthusiasm for the day. We woke up early in the morning before the sunrise (if you ask me it was still nighttime) and started a hike up a mountain in the dark. By the time we were half way up my legs were burning, my perseverance was wearing off, and my tired attitude was peaking through. But, when we reached the peak of the mountain and witnessed the sun shine through signaling the start to another day it amazed each and every one of us.
We continued the day at the aquarium watching all the fish from the most southern reef in the world. I saw Dory, Nemo, Sharks, and sting rays! We got to watch an interactive-seat-moving movie and it was really eyeopening!
I don’t even know where to start for the Bedouin Tents. When we got there my shoes immediately filled with sand. We took a mini tour around a Bedouin camp, went camel riding, and heard a Bedouin speaker! Dinner was delicious and Bedouin style! We sat on mats surrounded by our close friends, enjoyed meat, rice, pitta, and of course hummus. After dinner we walked into the desert and had a peaceful, eyeopening experience of just us with nature and, us with God. After the night activity we circled around a bonfire and flooded the desert with song. We slept on a mat in a dust infested tent, but don’t worry, it was still Bedouin style! I had a great day that day and learned so much about myself and the authentic Bedouin life.
